Mega Bloks Planetoids City 9300 Set Review

Mega Bloks Planetoids sets began releasing in 1997, similar to the Space-themed LEGO but with bigger molded pieces similar to LEGO 4+ sets.

The Parent Company Ritvik Toys was founded in Canada in 1967 by Victor Bertrand and his wife Rita. They started off making toys for toddlers, but their building blocks quickly gained popularity for their resemblance to Lego bricks.

I rebuilt my Mega Blok Planetoids City set from 1997. It’s the biggest set out of all the planetoid sets. It comes with a track measuring 3.5ft x 2.8ft, a motorized car, and three battle stations and 7 alien figures.

Set Details

Set Number: 9300
Name: Planetoid City
Pieces: 1000 pieces
Figures: SON-R, T-TANIUM, D-TEKTOR, MANTOR, TYRAX, ANTAX, and REPZYL MASTER

Features

Stickers: Several stickers were included in the set.
Instructions: Booklet
Functional Elements: Gun turrets with missiles that can fire and a motorized track car with a light on top.

The color scheme is similar to glow-in-the-dark colors. It has a starter plate and lap counter on the track. Two pin plates, each with a longer and a shorter pin, can be placed on the motorized car to switch between manual and automatic track directions.

My favorite part of the set is the aliens. All the characters were unique and unlike other toy figures available at the time. Despite its dated technology, I enjoyed playing with the track and motorized car.
